My Current Precision setup:

Spring 2022:

Finally updated the planter tractor--Case IH Magnum Autosteer Ready with Edrive X and Outback Max.  I took the Max out and the Edrive X and replaced it with a 10 inch rebel and edrive XC.  Less wires and a much nicer display.  Plan on running RTK with our A321 base station again.

Spring 2021:  No updates this year, all ran well.

Spring 2020:

Its been awhile since I updated this page!  We are currently running an Outback Max XC ESI System.  It is unlocked for RTK and we use iowa cors on this system.  A nice system that gives us 1 inch repeatable accuracy.  This is also the sprayer tractor--we have an Outback Ac110 section and rate control in this tractor as well.

We are still planting with an Outback max edrive X system--getting a little old but still performs well.  RTK unlocked and using a A321 900hz base station with this tractor.  1 Inch accuracy planting as well.  I have plans yet this winter to swap out the edrive X and Max to the New XC and Rebel system.

Our 3rd tractor used mainly for tillage is running an Outback STX with Edrive XD ESI System in it.  A nice affordable tillage setup with about 3-6 inch accuracy.  I have plans to upgrade this system to the Rebel broad acre package this winter yet as well.

Spring 2015:

Added an Edrive XD ESI system with an Outback STX on a magnum tractor to run our field cultivator.  This is my first personal experience with the VSI/ESI.  Its pretty impressive, acquires the line fast and holds it well.

Spring 2014:

Time to finaly replace the CaseIH 2394 with Edrive TC planter tractor.  We will be planting with a  Case IH Magnum Autosteer Ready with Edrive X. The 20/20 monitor has also been replaced with a Pro700 with a new Case IH 1255 Planter.  Going to miss the Precision Planting 20/20 but hope the Pro700 works as well.  An Outback Max and A321 will be controlling the Edrive X.  Plan to use the verizon data modem on cors of Iowa just to give that system one more chance on our tillage tractor--can always fall back to waas with tillage.

2013: Fall

Decided to buy the A321 Portable Tripod base station this fall to run Fall tillage and use this for the planter tractor in the Spring of 2014.  It worked great this fall.  I may use the verizon data modem in a tillage tractor this spring just to give the corrs of Iowa one more try.

2013: Spring

We ran the Outback Max with the verizon data modem off corrs Iowa this spring.  My review of this setup is luke-warm at this point.  It worked great when corrs of Iowa was running, but we had 2 days where about 1/2 of the day was spent with no correction due to corrs Iowa being down.  That is the drawback of this system.  You are at the mercy of the State DOT.

2012:
Updated a S3 to the New Outback Max.  Also purchased a verizon data modem and ran off corrs of Iowa this Fall.  Sub inch the whole time with fast RTK locks.  Pretty much Plug and Play, not a lot of settings to manually put in.  I think this system will replace our Baseline X this coming Spring.

Updated the automate to the Ac110 system, that is a nice improvement.  Allowed us to get rid of the raven 440 spray controller.

I also have a demo A220 and a laptop with a USB wireless internet card running off Cors of Iowa.  I am considering putting this on the planter tractor, but the Baseline X has been so good in our case I hate to fix something that is not broke.  The precision seems very impressive on the gps status screen of the S3 as precision is pegged at .000 meters of drift.

2011 update:

Again, ran everything below, Baseline X performed perfectly for our application.  We never put the planter markers Down.  Biggest improvements for us were the 20/20 planting system.  All of the first year bugs were worked out and the system worked very well.  The only problem all spring was a pinched cable.

We Also added an Outback S3 and Edrive X to one of our tractors--A newer CaseIH.  The Edrive X is impressive and I would put this up against any red or green high end system.

2010 Year:

Case IH 2394 Tractor running the Edrive TC, hooked up to a Outback S3 which is getting correction from the baseline X.

This setup worked great this spring, never put the markers down, High percentage of our land is contoured and it handled it with ease.  Pulling a 12 row white planter updated with a Precision 20/20 Planter monitor running row flow with 2 VR hydraulic drives on the planter and agleader electric clutches.  It is amazing what the 20/20 can do as far as seed monitoring.  Had some early issues with the VR Planting, but in the end, everything got planted via Variable rate prescription based off 4-7 years of yield data.  Prescription maps were made via Premier Crop Systems. Other Items, Sprayer tractor using the S3 and Automate for boom control this past summer, worked great, did not bother setting up the Baseline X as the Waas signal was adequate.

Also running a tillage tractor with the Outback S2 and Edrive TC.
